The Panini Shadow

2025 NBA Draft picks 1-30 and their Bowman auto exposure

Five first-round picks have zero autograph cards in this product: VJ Edgecombe (#3), Tre Johnson III (#6), Jeremiah Fears (#7), Carter Bryant (#14), and Hugo Gonzalez (#28). The three top-7 absences are the headline — top-pick scarcity is likely Panini-exclusive auto contracts shaping a Topps release.

If you want Mojo, you buy Mega. The entire color ladder is locked behind one format — Blue Mojo /150 at the top down to Rose Gold Mojo /1 as the floor. This is the clearest format-driven incentive in the product.

Featured insights

Six tiles — heavier typography and larger cards. These should read like editorial statements, not a wall of cards.

If you want a Tre Johnson III auto, this isn't where you find it

VJ Edgecombe (#3) · Tre Johnson III (#6) · Jeremiah Fears (#7)

Three of the top seven picks in the 2025 NBA Draft have base cards and inserts in this product but zero autographs. That makes their Bowman base cards uniquely Topps-only — if you want their autographed rookie cards, you're waiting on Panini's release.

Kiyan Anthony and his dad share this product

Kiyan at Syracuse · Carmelo on Young Kings YK-22 (Nuggets era)

Kiyan Anthony's first 1st Bowman card lands him at Syracuse — the same school where his father retired his #15 jersey in the rafters. Carmelo appears in the same product on the Young Kings insert, in his Denver Nuggets uniform. Father and son, one box, 23 years between their college careers. Kiyan even wears Carmelo's old Knicks #7 at Syracuse.

Cooper and Ace Flagg are fraternal twins

Cooper #1 in Dallas · Ace BPP-91 at Maine

Born together December 21, 2006. Cooper became the youngest player in NBA history to score 50+ points. Ace plays Division I at the University of Maine while his brother anchors the Mavericks. Building a Cooper-Ace twin pairing — say, both base /1s — is a specific PC goal that exists nowhere else in the hobby.

Eight countries appear in the 2025 NBA rookie class

Bahamas · South Sudan · Spain · France · Israel · Germany · Lithuania · Russia

VJ Edgecombe (Bahamas, #3). Khaman Maluach (South Sudan via the NBA Africa Academy, #10). Hugo Gonzalez (Spain, #28). Noa Essengue and Joan Beringer (France/Cameroon lineages). Ben Saraf (Israel). Egor Dëmin (Russia, via BYU). Nolan Traoré (France). Kasparas Jakučionis (Lithuania, via Illinois). The 1st Bowman class is the most international NBA draft class in recent memory.

Ray Allen's card features a team that hasn't existed since 2008

Young Kings YK-25 · Seattle Supersonics, defunct since 2008

The Young Kings insert pairs current NBA stars (YK-1 through YK-15) with retired HOFers in their iconic uniforms (YK-16 through YK-25). Iverson is a 76er. Magic is a Laker. Ray Allen is a Sonic. It's the only card in this product referencing a franchise that no longer exists. Topps did this on purpose.

All insights

12 tiles total. Secondary tiles are intentionally lighter — supporting evidence, not equal billing.

Dylan Harper is the second-generation Spur in this set

Father Ron Harper · 5 NBA championships (3 Bulls, 2 Lakers)

Ron Harper played 15 NBA seasons and won five rings sharing backcourts with Jordan and Kobe. His son Dylan landed at #2 in San Antonio — paired with Wembanyama. Dylan's older brother Ron Harper Jr. is in the league too. Three Harpers in one bloodline, one of them in this product.

Four insert sets. Same 25 players. Same odds.

Talent Tracker · Gen Next · VIP · Bowman Verified

Topps shipped the same 25-player NCAA pool across four structurally identical inserts with different wrapper art. Same pack odds (1:58 Hobby) across all four. Only the design differs. Talent Tracker is the flagship; the other three are filler dressed as premium content.

Shaq is in this product three different ways

Lakers (Young Kings) · LSU (Retrofractor) · LSU signed (Retrofractor Auto)

One player, three eras, three cards. Modern star in Lakers yellow on Young Kings. College throwback in LSU purple-and-gold on Retrofractor. Same college throwback, signed, on the auto variation. Bill Russell shares the Retrofractor pair (San Francisco era) but not the autograph — Russell passed away in 2022.

Cameron Boozer is in the marketing. He's not in the product.

Pre-release Topps materials prominent · Final checklist & autographs absent

Topps' pre-release education sheet features Cameron Boozer as a top 2026 prospect. He isn't in the actual checklist or any autograph set. Twin brother Cayden is also missing. Both played for Duke. The Boozer no-show is the biggest unforced error on the NCAA side — and a likely candidate for late-cycle redemptions.

If you want any Mojo card, you have to buy a Mega box

8 Mojo parallels · 0 in Hobby/Jumbo/Value

Mojo parallels exist on base cards, Chrome Prospects, autograph cards, and inside the Mega Rookies and Mega Prospects inserts — and only ever inside a Mega box. Blue Mojo /150 down to Rose Gold Mojo /1. The clearest format-driven incentive in the product.

And if you want a Geometric, only Breaker's Delight has them

All Geometric parallels · Breaker's Delight exclusive

The Geometric parallel ladder — a faceted, angular treatment that runs across base cards, Chrome Prospects, AND inserts — exists only inside the $2,499.95 Breaker's Delight box. Group break operators built this format. Solo collectors chasing the Geometric rainbow have no other path.

Juju Watkins is the WCBB chase the product is built around

USC · 1/1 Chrome Prospect SuperFractor · 9 insert appearances

Watkins shows up in nine separate insert sets — second only to the marquee NBA rookies. Her 1/1 Chrome Prospect SuperFractor is the highest-rarity women's basketball card in the entire release. WCBB has historically been a smaller corner of the hobby; Topps treating Watkins like a top-three NBA name is a meaningful signal.

Player rainbows

Five deep dives meant to read like synthesis (parallels + insert appearances + auto set presence), not a rehash of the Checklist.

Cooper Flagg

77 total parallelsrarest: chrome-superfractor

10 inserts3 auto sets

Building a 'complete Flagg' from this product means: 12 Border parallels on his base card (Purple → Platinum /1), 30 Chrome parallels (Refractor → SuperFractor /1), 7 Reptilian, 6 Geometric (Breaker's Delight only), 7 Sapphire (Sapphire Box only), and 15 Mojo (Mega only). Plus inserts. Plus autograph access. The full rainbow lives across four box formats.

AJ Dybantsa

70 total parallelsrarest: superfractor

10 inserts4 auto sets

Dybantsa is the consensus #1 projection for the 2026 NBA Draft. His 1st Bowman lives here. The Chrome Prospect SuperFractor /1 carries every collector's bet that BYU's freshman becomes a franchise pick — without any NBA evidence yet. That's the original 1st Bowman value proposition.

Juju Watkins

USC's Watkins is the WCBB face of the product. Her insert presence (9 sets) is deeper than most NBA rookies. Topps is treating her rainbow as a top-tier chase, not a sidebar.

Fun takeaways

Things you’ll quote in a group chat

The Anthony family has 23 years of Syracuse basketball in one box

In 2003, Carmelo Anthony led Syracuse to its only national championship as a freshman. His #15 hangs in the rafters. The practice facility on campus is named the Carmelo K. Anthony Basketball Center after his $3 million donation. In 2025, his son Kiyan enrolled at the same school, wearing #7 — Carmelo's old New York Knicks number. Both Anthonys have cards in this product: Kiyan as a 1st Bowman Chrome Prospect, Carmelo on Young Kings YK-22 in Nuggets red. Father and son in the same Bowman release, 23 years apart.

Cooper Flagg's twin brother plays for Maine

Cooper and Ace Flagg are fraternal twins, born December 21, 2006 in Newport, Maine. Their mother Kelly was a 5'10" guard at the University of Maine. Their father Ralph was a 6'9" big man at Eastern Maine Community College. Cooper went to Duke for one year, then to Dallas at #1. Ace went directly to the University of Maine — keeping the Flagg basketball lineage exactly where it started. Both twins land in this product. Cooper anchors the NBA base set at #1. Ace plays at BPP-91 in Bowman blue.

The eight first-round picks who came from outside the U.S.

VJ Edgecombe (Bahamas) at #3 — the highest Bahamian-born NBA draft pick ever. Khaman Maluach (South Sudan) at #10, came up through the NBA Africa Academy in Senegal. Egor Dëmin (Russia) at #8 via BYU. Khaman, Edgecombe, and Egor were all teenagers when they left home for U.S. basketball. Add Hugo Gonzalez (Spain), Joan Beringer (France/Cameroon), Noa Essengue (France), Ben Saraf (Israel), Kasparas Jakučionis (Lithuania), and Nolan Traoré (France), and the 2025 first round was one of the most international drafts in NBA history. Their 1st Bowman cards are first-edition collectibles for their entire international fan bases.

The Young Kings insert is the only card with a defunct NBA team

The 2008 relocation of the Seattle Supersonics to Oklahoma City is one of the most controversial franchise moves in NBA history. The Sonics name and color scheme have not been used since. Topps put Ray Allen's Young Kings card (YK-25) in Sonics green anyway — choosing his pre-OKC era over the Celtics championship era he's also famously associated with. It's the only card in this product referencing a team that no longer exists, and the choice of era was deliberate.

Stage 1 intentionally avoids custom visualizations. Stage 2 and Stage 3 will fill the reserved viz sections once the tile tone and page rhythm feel right.
